Freight Analyst

General Purpose of the Position:

The Freight Analyst position will be responsible for performing projects and tasks related to all inbound and outbound freight suppliers and related expeditures for all WCI locations worldwide. The analyst will be responsible for resolving billing discrepancies and delinquency issues by negotiating with suppliers. A few functions of the position include: research & analysis of the issues, outbound & inbound calls, emailing, etc. You'll have extensive contact with suppliers and customers so exceptional communication skills are a must. You'll need to meet goals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, as well as adapt to continuous improvements, changes and new challenges quickly. Successful analysts meet and exceed standards by bringing resolution to a billing or delinquency issue quickly. This position will participate in both the technical and social components of the Accounting L-10 team. Leadership and skill acquisition is paramount.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Freight Company Contact – negotiate best rates with suppliers for all locations
  • Freight consolidation analysis
  • Compare actual vs Quotes rates
    • Monitor and provide feedback to quote team and leadership on results
    • Work with quote to resolve discrepancies in actual vs quoted and provide feedback/data for future quotes
  • Audit Freight costs loaded on parts – Increase automated freight receipt use
  • Metrics
    • Unmatched freight Receipts
    • Aged %
    • Actual vs Quoted
    • Cost Savings
  • Other assigned tasks as requested including backup to daily download of receipts

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing freight supplier relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in improving freight related business processes
  • Ability to multitask
  • Detail oriented with ERP system experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Actively commit to a team atmosphere
  • Be able to demonstrate levels of decision making based upon proficiency and experience aligned with business objectives
  • Ability to work at a fast and deliberate pace
  • Constructive attitude that continues to seek and resolve daily challenges through commitments to the process
  • Ability to analyze data and issues to uncover root cause and provide solutions

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:

  • Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Data analytics is a plus
  • ERP systems

Education and Experience Required:

  • 4-year degree preferred
  • Previous experience working with Freight suppliers, freight transactions and freight related processes
